Aims

The International Baccalaureate minor provides students with opportunities to critically examine recent and seminal literature, engage in debate and reflection, and expand and apply in-depth knowledge of:

  • Policies, theories and practices related to international education and IB practice
  • Methods for fostering interdisciplinary and intercultural partnerships and working collaboratively
  • Theoretical and practical matters in education in such a way as to improve professional decision making
  • IB curriculum, pedagogy and assessment policies and practices designed to improve learning outcomes and student well-being  

Learning outcomes

On completion students will be able to:
1.
Evaluate contemporary evidence-informed knowledge of IB educational philosophy, practices, programmes and contexts
2.
Design curriculum and assessment for diverse learners and contexts in IB schools through the application of evidence-based knowledge, skills and dispositions
3.
Compose and justify a professional philosophy that integrates IB pedagogy, approaches to learning and assessment methods in relation to at least one IB programme
4.
Discuss developments that contribute to professional practice or scholarship in IB Education through application of high-level technical and communication skills
