EAP2 English for Academic Purposes 2

Overview

THIS COURSE IS NOT OFFERED FROM OCTOBER 2023.

This course provides an intermediate level of Academic English while developing students’ underlying English skills.

Students review the fundamentals of sentence structure, grammar, and the key aspects of organisation, style and use of language while also being introduced to more complex language and structures to express complex ideas. Students are exposed to a variety of general and academic texts and to spoken English in both a lecture and conversational context. Students engage in discussions on a range of general topics and from within their field of study.

Admission requirements

Admission requirements

International English Language Testing System (IELTS) 5.0 overall with no band score lower than 4.5, or equivalent scores in one of the approved tests as published on the English language requirements webpage.

Students without external examination results may be admitted to the course after completing a placement test at the commencement of the student’s enrolled study period. Placement tests may only be taken in person.

Aims

The course aims to improve students’ English language ability and to teach academic culture and conventions in Australia.
