Aims

  • Prepare students for a variety of careers where specialised knowledge is required for the integration of gender considerations into policy making, program/project design and implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
  • Provide students with a comprehensive knowledge of Gender Mainstreaming and Gender Analysis and their applicability in a range of contexts. 
  • Facilitate opportunities to apply Gender mainstreaming and Gender Analysis knowledge in simulated virtual learning environments designed to enhance work related learning and understanding of real-world workplace contexts.
  • Extend and build students' skills to implement Gender Mainstreaming and Gender Analysis in both the Australian and the international context.
  • Extend students' oral and written communication skills in relation to Gender Mainstreaming and Gender Analysis.

Learning outcomes

On completion of the course you will be able to:

Appraise contemporary debates on integrating gender into policies and programs

Assess gender inequality issues and justify analytical tools and frameworks applied

Evaluate Gender Mainstreaming strategies within the context of gender theories

Critique how Gender Mainstreaming and Gender Analysis have been practiced by international and/or national government agencies and non-government organisations

Recommend Gender Mainstreaming and Gender Analysis frameworks and tools

Develop and apply skills for effective engagement across diverse cultures and intersections
