Program of study notes

This Program of Study serves as a suggested study plan. When core topics are offered in both halves of the year, students may enrol in these topics in either half of the year as long as requisites are met.
Students will elect to undertake either (a) 18 units of elective topics, or (b) an 18 unit recognised minor selected from the above list. Students are encouraged to seek course advice prior to enrolling if intending to undertake a recognised minor.
Students are encouraged to choose listed option topics as electives, but may select any topic from across the University aligned with the student's year of study where the requisites are met.
Students intending to complete GOVT3011 Vienna Internship Program will need to first complete the pre-requisite topics using their electives in 2nd year.

This course has been designed to provide graduates with:

A comprehensive grounding in the core political science disciplines of international relations, politics and public policy
An understanding of Australia's political system and its place within the regional and global context
The capacity to utilize analytical frameworks in international relations
The development of academic and professional competencies related to international relations, politics and public policy
An understanding of and commitment to professional and ethical responsibilities
Transferable workplace-related skills and experiences
