Aims

This course aims to produce graduates who are knowledgeable advocates for the role of nutrition and exercise in supporting community health and wellbeing. Graduates will have advanced, real-world knowledge and skills to promote healthy nutrition and engaging and safe physical activity within a wide range of settings including public health, health education, or health promotion. With an additional focus on counselling and communication skills, this course will prepare graduates to become contemporary, client-centred health practitioners who can work effectively with teams, organisations and individuals from a variety of backgrounds. They will also understand and navigate the complexities of health behaviour changes and know how to apply technologies to support health practice and intervention.

Learning outcomes

On completion of the course you will be able to:

Develop the knowledge and skills to promote healthy lifestyles through exercise and nutrition across the community
2.
Critically evaluate the relationship between exercise, nutrition, and wellbeing and the body
3.
Effectively communicate exercise and nutrition knowledge across a variety of public contexts and stakeholders
4.
Utilise social and psychological theories through both local and global social health perspectives to address issues through the use of exercise and nutrition interventions in local and global social health contexts
5.
Advocate for creative, evidence-based solutions to social health issues that incorporate the views of all stakeholders
6.
Demonstrate independent learning and reflective practice skills
