Aims

The major aims to produce graduates who have:

  • Indonesian communications skills which are appropriate for a range of contexts and situations
  • A high level of competency in the four core fields of Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing
  • An understanding of key political, social, economic, environmental and cultural issues in Indonesia

Learning outcomes

On completion students will be able to:
1.
Communicate and interact in a professional and culturally aware manner through a satisfactory level of written and oral skills
2.
Apply professional expertise to policy advice and formulation, including associated research and report-writing
3.
Engage in business, international development, or government activities with, and in, Indonesia
4.
Undertake further specialist qualifications for teaching of Indonesian language or professional translation
5.
Demonstrate language skills and associated socio-cultural knowledge and conceptual understandings that equip them for employment in organisations either in Indonesia or with an Indonesian focus
6.
Engage cross culturally in a range of social and workplace settings
7.
Demonstrate knowledge of the developments which have shaped, and continue to shape, Australia's relationship with Indonesia
