Aims
The Screen and Media major aims to:
- Introduce students to the major ideas which inform the study of film, television, video, and a range of digital and interactive media
- Offer students an understanding of the historical, industrial, and where appropriate, national contexts in which these media function
- Offer students an understanding of the ways in which commercial and aesthetic considerations shape these media
- Offer students an understanding of these media as cultural artefacts and social forces
- Prepare students to examine these media critically and to work in them creatively
- Provide students opportunities to explore the intersections of theory and practice in these media
Learning outcomes
On completion students will be able to:

Have acquired a broad understanding of the history of ideas that inform the study of film, television, video, digital and interactive media
2.
Demonstrate an ability to think critically and express themselves clearly in the areas of screen and media studies
3.
Have developed advanced knowledge of the media forms in which they specialise
