Aims
The honours program in English aims to provide students with the necessary knowledge and skills to research and present, both orally and in writing, an extended piece of research. This includes building on skills developed through the completion of a major in English in literary analysis and critical analysis and an understanding of genre(s).
Learning outcomes
On completion students will be able to:
1.
Analyse and interpret texts and/or ideas to a high level using literary and/or critical theory
2.
Complete an extended piece of research based on developed skills in a range of research activities, including an understanding of the ethical considerations of carrying out research
3.
Effectively present their research both orally and in writing
4.
Evaluate the public culture of writing, and how the wider community engages with literature and the role of the writer in society
