Aims
This major provides study in both the theoretical and the practical aspects of civil engineering that builds on a student's previous knowledge and experience. It also provides the student with an ability to critically analyse and evaluate information and solve problems and creates a basis for further study in civil engineering.
Learning outcomes
On completion students will be able to:

Evaluate problems and use professional skills and knowledge in the systematic development of civil engineering systems
2.
Apply a variety of civil engineering techniques and evaluate the processes through which this knowledge has been developed
3.
Analyse the engineering principles needed to generate a solution appropriate to the social, political, international, economic and environmental contexts in which they are applied
