Aims
The course specialisation aims to:
- Facilitate development of specialised knowledge, skills and attributes for application in aged care nursing environments
- Extend student knowledge in research for practice development
Learning outcomes
On completion of the course you will be able to:

Critically apply evidence based nursing practice in their specialty area of nursing
2.
Demonstrate the application of theory to nursing practice
3.
Evaluate nursing care using reflexive and critical thinking processes
4.
Articulate the place of primary health care and population health in your specialty area
5.
Demonstrate leadership skills in the area of nursing practice, education and research
6.
Demonstrate specialised skills and knowledge in the relevant area of nursing practice
7.
Examine the complexity of the issues associated with nursing an older client within a primary health care framework
8.
Critique policies which impact on the professional, organisational and political context of aged care nursing practice
9.
Analyse the sociocultural challenges and complexities of aging in contemporary society and identify how these impact on care of the older client

Demonstrate the skills, knowledge and attributes required to care for the older client in a range of nursing environments
