Aims

This course aims to provide opportunities for students to explore current theories and research trends in second language acquisition and to investigate classroom issues related to TESOL. Students will also acquire a range of skills and capacities to critique second language teaching methodologies while gaining insights into the interaction between culture and language as it relates to TESOL.

Learning outcomes

On completion of the course you will be able to:

Discuss current theories in second language acquisition
2.
Evaluate and analyse classroom issues related to TESOL
3.
Compare various second language teaching theories and methodologies and communicate them (as well as the differences between them) to a range of audiences
4.
Compare second language teaching methodologies and approaches and appropriately adapt them to a range of classroom teaching scenarios
5.
Synthesise knowledge and skills in TESOL research
