Overview

The Graduate Certificate in Health Promotion requires 0.5 years of full-time study (or the equivalent part-time). The course is offered by the College of Medicine and Public Health.The course articulates with the 54 or 72 unit Master of Public Health and the sequentially developed topics enable progression through the awards.

Aims

The course aims to provide students with health promotion knowledge and skills to incorporate the principles of public health/primary health care into specific fields of practice in order to reduce inequalities in health care access and health outcomes.

Learning outcomes

On completion of the course you will be able to:
1.
Understand the relevance of models of health promotion in a range of real world and workplace problems
2.
Critically analyse theoretical concepts relevant to health promotion, and the social determinants of health and well-being
3.
Apply principles of health promotion to public health practice

Student progression rules

Failure to complete the course within four consecutive semesters may constitute prima facie evidence of unsatisfactory progress for the purposes of the University's Policy on Student Progress. Where credit has been granted a lesser period to complete the course may be set by the Dean (Education).

The award of a grade of Fail (F) in the same topic on more than one occassion or in 18 units or more, may constitute prima facie evidence of unsatisfactory progress for the purposes of the University's Policy on Student Progress.
