Aims

The course aims to provide students with the knowledge and skills to incorporate the principles of primary health care in order to reduce inequalities in health care access and health outcomes.

Learning outcomes

On completion of the course you will be able to:
1.
Have knowledge of the implications of a social determinants approach for understanding population health in Australia and internationally
2.
Critically analyse relationships between the social determinants of health and well-being, and health inequities using relevant theoretical approaches
3.
Apply principles and concepts related to the social determinants of health in improving public health practice

Student progression rules

Failure to complete the course within four consecutive semesters or the award of a grade of Fail (F) in the same topic on more than one occasion or in 18 units or more, may constitute prima facie evidence of unsatisfactory progress for the purposes of the University's Policy on Student Progress.
