Program of study overview

Aims

The topic aims to produce graduates that:

  • Are able to apply mental health and wellbeing knowledge to inform decision-making and communication
  • Identify how mental health and wellbeing is shaped by both person factors and organisational factors, and be able to innovate to address both sets of issues.
  • Utilise strategies to support one's own and others' mental health and wellbeing as a leader
  • Analyse potential strategies for their rationale and evidence-base
  • Possess knowledge of managing risk appropriate to one’s context, and are able to work ethically and inclusively with others
  • Be aware of key regulatory frameworks and industry best practice
  • Be able to develop whole-of-system strategies and implementation steps to lead mental health and wellbeing in organisations and community groups

Learning outcomes

On completion students will be able to:

Apply concepts in mental health and wellbeing to inform decision-making and communication
2.
Judge between different mental health and wellbeing approaches, strategies, assessment techniques and interventions on the basis of their underlying goals, focus, evidence base, and organisational fit
3.
Evaluate mental health and wellbeing risks in terms of interacting person and environment factors
4.
Utilise strategies to support one's own and others' mental health and wellbeing as a leader
5.
Self-evaluate to improve your capacity to lead a mentally healthy workplace or community group
